“There is so much time and so little to see. Strike that! Reverse it!”- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

This statement is the most accurate thing I can possibly say about the J-term trip to Germany. The days are crammed packed with tours, school work, and socializing with alums, faculty, and fellow students. It was the most tiring two weeks that I have had due to the long days, but it was the most rewarding. Making the connections with companies and alums, seeing sights that I would have never seen on my own, and have an understanding of the German culture is one of the greatest experiences one could get.

Going there, my German has improved due to the exposure and the push to speak German to others by the faculty. This program is also amazing for anyone who is unsure about the IEP program. This trip shows the end result of the program and it is truly rewarding. Most people travel a lot and have jobs that they are fairly happy with.

I achieved all my goals with being more confident in my German skills, having a political conversation with some Germans and finally having a true connection with Germany by getting to know the people and companies that are there. Germany was gorgeous and I will always remember this trip. Heidelberg was my favorite place to visit because of the rich history and amazing views. Volkswagen was my favorite company to see because the production was so fascinating and seeing the machines work was oddly soothing due to its repetitive motions. These examples are why I am determined to continue with the IEP program. I am glad I went on the J-Term Trip.
